Sir Kailash Ramdanee n’était pas que le père de mon cher ami Sanjiv Ramdanee, il était aussi un entrepreneur à succès et un homme de bien, qui avait amélioré la vie de ses compatriotes Mauriciens en démocratisant l’usage des médicaments sur ce petit paradis de l’océan Indien, puis en créant l’Association nationale de lutte contre le diabète, un fléau dans cette île célèbre pour sa culture de canne à sucre. S’illustrant également dans l’immobilier, la restauration, l’hôtellerie avec le Maradiva, seul hôtel 5 étoiles de l’île ne recevant ses clients qu’en villas, et enfin la vie associative (il fut membre du Conseil de la Fédération Pharmaceutique Internationale, Président de Mauritius Telecommunication, Président de la Chambre du Commerce des 19 pays africains PTA et gouverneur), Sir Kailash avait été anobli par la reine Elisabeth II pour services rendus à l’industrie et au commerce. Agreat gentleman passed away yesterday. Sir Kailash Ramdanee was not only the father of my dear friend Sanjiv Ramdanee, he was also a successful entrepreneur and a good man, who improved the lives of his fellow Mauritians by democratizing the use of medicines on this little Indian Ocean paradise, and then by creating the National Association for the Fight against Diabetes, a scourge on this island famous for its sugarcane cultivation. Sir Kailash also distinguished himself in real estate, the restaurant business, the hotel business with the Maradiva, the only 5-star hotel on the island to welcome guests in villas, and in community life (he was a member of the Board of the International Pharmaceutical Federation, President of Mauritius Telecommunication, President of the Chamber of Commerce of the 19 African PTA countries and Governor), and was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for services to industry and commerce.
